Getting Started Edit

Most people follow this order when getting started with Facebook. Try it yourself.

Sign Up Edit

It's easiest to sign up from your computer. If you do not have a computer, download the app and sign up there.

  • Go to
  • Fill in the fields
  • Click "Create Account"

Find Friends Edit

Now that you're in Facebook, lookup the names of some of your friends. Facebook knows a little about where you are located geographically, so it will be able to suggest some people who are more likely to be your friends.

When you find someone you know, "friend them" by clicking "Add Friend" next to their name. If they agree to be friends with you, they'll accept your invitation and then you can see each others pictures, posts, and other things that people who are not your friend cannot see.

The person you just became friends with already has other friends on Facebook. Those friends will be notified that your friend just became friends with you. If those friends know you, they can click a link to request to be friends with you. Before you know it, you'll be getting friend requests from people you hadn't thought about in years!

How many friends you have is completely up to you. Some people have a couple dozen, others have several hundreds (even thousands). In 2014, the average Facebook user had 338 friends[1].

Post Something Edit

Now that you're "on Facebook", post something! You can post pictures, videos, links, and more! Just type in the "What's on your mind?" box and hit enter!
